Mr. Venners brings 35 years of experience to BET-H.  He is a founding principal and former officer/director of KFx, Inc. a publically traded company in the clean coal technology business that has since changed to Evergreen Energy.  He was also founder and President of Reliable Power, Inc. a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation of Japan specializing in the commercialization of a proprietary rechargable fuel cell technology until it was sold to a Canadian company in 2005.

 

Venners was founder and President of Venners and Co., Ltd., a Washington D. C. based energy consulting firm. from 1978 to 2006.  He has also served as Managing Partner overseeing energy sector investments for Kanturk Partners, a Washington DC based merchant bank.

 

Over the years, Venners served as Managing Director of the Interdependent Crude and Refining Corporation, President of Mex-Am Crude Corporation and President of Independent Term Supply.  These companies were actively involved with the acquisition, trading and distribution of crude oil and petroleum products.  He was instrumental in forming some of the first crude oil buying consortiums made up of U. S. independent oil refiners.  He also played an active role in the American Petroleum Refiners Association.

 

Prior to his business activities John served as Confidential Assistant to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior and Director of Congressional Relations for the White House Federal Energy Office during the Arab Oil Embargo.  He came to Washington in 1970 as an assistant to Congressman E. Y. Berry after serving as his Field Representative while attending Black Hills State University.

 

Venners has been instrumental in coordinating legislative efforts directly affecting the energy industry.  In conjunction with his business activities, John has traveled extensively throughout the world and maintains excellent relations with the international business and government communities.
